The Biographies

Pastor Clay Hecocks

Pastor Clay Hecocks has enjoyed the unique experience and call of leading worship at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale. When he arrived, he found a small congregation, accustomed to guitar, drums and limited vocals. Nine years later, he has risen to the challenge of maintaining intimate worship for more than 15,000 believers at seven different services with five separate worship teams and a choir.

Pastor Clay’s musical career began as a classical pianist. However, it was not long before he abandoned his roots to follow his love for a contemporary style of music. This made him a natural for fulfilling God’s call of leading worship, after giving his life to the Lord at the age of 23.

Another fruit of Pastor Clay’s ministry has been in the area of writing, arranging and producing contemporary Christian music. He has produced several worship projects including the Higher Praise series and several of his songs have been recorded on various labels including Hosanna! Integrity and Maranatha! Music.

Pastor Clay has the rare and exceptional skill of blending intricate and difficult musical components to obtain a simple, yet profound style of worship that captures the beauty and heart of the Lord. It is the basis for the depth of worship enjoyed by the body of believers who are blessed through the God-given gifts and talents of Pastor Clay Hecocks’ ministry of music.

It is this great combined passion for Jesus and musical excellence that has brought Pastor Clay down a path that has led to the Ocean’s Edge Music Record Label.

Michael Grosso

was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he has lived for most of his life. He became interested in music at a very early age and developed a love for the drums that lasted until he hung up my sticks in the mid 1990’s. He came to know the Lord as my savior at a very young age, as well, and vividly remembers the amazing experience of his baptism at Grace Brethren Church, in Fort Lauderdale. He is very thankful that his great grandmother encouraged his family to be a part of that beautiful fellowship where he was being lead into full-time ministry. In 1975 while traveling extensively with a funk / disco band, he met his wife-to-be, Lisa (the singer in the band).

It was in the midst of touring with this band that he eventually felt the tug of the Lord faithfully leading me back to a place of spiritual growth and commitment. Both he and Lisa re-committed their lives to Christ and were married in 1977. He then built, managed, and operated his own recording studio business, starting in 1978 –eventually taking on business partner to build a larger, more elaborate recording facility and expand the scope of the business. With 5 years of owning and operating that studio he worked on a multitude of music album projects, in a very wide range of musical styles, as well as a vast array of music recordings produced for use in many major movies, TV programs, and TV / radio spots.

In addition to his duties as a full-time recording engineer as well as working for a local PBS affiliate television station, he also worked part-time in a thriving contemporary church (Spanish River Church – Boca Raton, FL.) as their audio / lighting tech from 1981 until 1993.

In the midst of all this activity he and his wife were blessed with three children (Nick, Nathan, and Melissa).

After 18 years in the recording business, he assumed a full-time ministry position at Calvary Chapel where he has seen the Lord provide new and exciting opportunities to use his knowledge and experience of recording. In addition to managing Calvary’s own state-of-the-art recording facility, he has also been blessed with opportunities to tour extensively with their worship team and host a variety of large stadium and arena events.
